Volunteering & Fundraising

Each year, all LYWA wrestlers are required to participate in the main club fundraiser, the Takedown-a-thon. Wrestlers are encouraged to connect with family members, neighbors, and friends, share what they are raising money for, and ask for donations.

Donation packets with more information are sent home with wrestlers. Gear is awarded to wrestlers who reach designated fundraising levels.

At the conclusion of the Takedown-a-thon time-frame, we spend one practice honoring supporters and celebrating the wrestlers' hard work by having each athlete complete 100 takedowns.

NYWA Regional Tournament

We are fortunate to be a host town for one of the Northland Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) regional tournaments for the state of Minnesota. By successfully executing this tournament each year, we are able to keep participation fees low and cover entry fees for several open tournaments.

We rely on the volunteer efforts of the parents of our current wrestlers and other wrestling supporters to run this tournament. Examples of volunteer roles we need to have filled come tournament time are table workers, concessions, bracket runners, check-in workers, etc.

The 2019 NYWA regional tournament date is Saturday, March 23. We require help setting up evening of Friday, March 22 or help supporting the tournament on Saturday, March 23. Please mark your calendars and plan to help out so we can keep running a smooth tournament and supporting our youth wrestlers!
